Gender Equity Victoria (GEN VIC) evolved in 2018 from the Women’s Health Association of Victoria (WHAV), which was formed in 1994 as a peak body for the women’s health sector. 

Following the creation of Victoria’s first Gender Equality Strategy, Safe and Strong, WHAV was transformed to provide support to a growing gender equity movement across industries, communities and sectors.
