Dr Helen Keleher, Acting CEO
Dr Helen Keleher is the Acting CEO of Gender Equity Victoria, the peak organisation for women, gender equality and the prevention of gendered violence in Victoria after serving as Gen Vic’s Director of Policy, Programs and Engagement. She is Adjunct Professor in Health Sciences at Monash University; Deputy Chair of the Australian Women’s Health Network; past-President and Life Member of the Public Health Association of Australia, Convenor for the 2017 World Congress on Public Health held in Melbourne, and a member of the Gender Equity Knowledge Network for the World Health Organization Commission on the Social Determinants of Health. Through her work in Keleher Consulting, she has worked on numerous gender equity and prevention of violence against women strategies and has expertise in population health.
Her work over many decades has been about increasing health and social equity, particularly for women. She was a lead writer for Change the Story, 2nd edition for Our Watch and is published widely. Her most recent book is the 5th edition of Understanding Health published by Oxford University Press.
