#16DaysOfActivism 2021: Call It Out Everywhere

This Thursday, 25th of November marks the first day of 16-Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence, with the United Nations theme, Orange the World: End Violence Against Women Now! And Respect Victoria’s theme, Call It Out (Respect Is).

At GEN VIC we’re pleased to bring together a calendar of events happening statewide for this year’s #16DaysOfActivism campaign. Ending gender based violence must happen everywhere: in media, in politics and online as well as at home, in our relationships, on the street and in the workplace.

Calling out gendered harassment and abuse is just one way you can make a difference in challenging the attitudes that drive gendered violence. Taking this further and calling out gendered harassment online, in the media and in politics sends the message that everyone deserves to be able to participate in public life without fear of gendered harassment, violence or abuse.

Our #EnoughisEnough campaign, submission to the Jenkins Inquiry and our support of the March4Justice, we have have called for a political culture free from gendered violence in Australia.

When we allow gendered violence to occur in Parliaments, violence becomes a form of political intimidation, pushing women and gender diverse people out of public life and leadership. It makes gender equality and preventing violence even harder to achieve when diverse voices aren’t at the decision making table.

GEN VIC calls out ALL forms of gendered violence. Everywhere.

This year we’re sharing with you a calendar of events you can participate in to get involved with the #16Days movement to end gender-based violence. Wherever you are there are events for you, in person and online.

We’ve been proud to showcase our members work to change attitudes and behaviours and to partner with Safe & Equal and Respect Victoria and the Victorian Government on this work.
