Building the Pool of Qualified Trainers Experienced in the Prevention of Violence Against Women

GEN VIC is offering scholarships to eligible prevention of violence against women and gender equity practitioners to complete the current TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or to update pre-existing vocational educational training (VET) and assessment qualifications.

The scholarship is part of GEN VIC’s Building the Pool of VET Qualified Prevention of Violence Against Women (PVAW) and Gender Equity Trainers Program.  This program responds to an urgent need to meet the upcoming demand for qualified trainers to deliver  and assess new VET units in PVAW, gender equity and responding to family violence and other forms of violence against women.

Practitioners who receive scholarships will:

  • Upgrade their old vocational training qualification or complete the new Certificate IV TAE40116 with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) of your choice. Through this project scholarship scheme some fee exemptions (i.e. reduced enrolment fees) only available for this project’s participants enrolling at TAFEs and local learning centres.
  • Commit to participate over 12 months in a series of 12 community of practice sessions (face-to-face and webinar) designed to assist in the completion of the Cert IV TAE 40116, and the development of the specific PVAW training skills, and
  • commit to delivering accredited PVAW and gender equity training units in the future which will be offered by RTOs from 2020

Two types of scholarships are available:

  1. Up to $500 to update their pre-existing (old) Certificate IV TAE qualification.
  2. Up to $2,000 to complete the new  Certificate IV TAE40116 in Training and Assessment.

Eligible project participants must be able to provide a letter of support from their employer vouching for their PVAW and gender equity industry and training experience in order for their application to be considered. The support letter should describe their practitioner skills and work commitment to undertaking future PVAW and/or gender equity practice and training delivery.

GEN VIC has opened a 2nd round of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible prevention of violence against women and gender equity practitioners that wish to take part in GEN VIC Train the PVAW Trainer Program. 

Criteria used to determine suitability of candidates will include:

  • Experience as a PVAW and gender equity practitioner and trainer
  • Geographical location – areas in which you are prepared to deliver PVAW training
  • Commitment from the candidate to complete the Cert IV TAE40116 and to go on to contribute to the delivery of VET accredited PVAW and Gender Equity units
  • Background of the candidate that may assist in the delivery of PVAW content through an intersectional lens and
  • Capacity to commit to participate in a monthly Training Community of Practice until August 2020.

 A limited number of scholarships are available. We encourage you to submit your EOI soon to be considered.  As applications of merit are received they will be assessed.  Candidates that meet our criteria will be invited to participate.
