Gender Equity Victoria is currently recruiting for up to 3 new Directors to join our Board.

About the organisation

Gender Equity Victoria is a not-for-profit membership organisation and is governed by a Board of Directors and managed by professional staff. Our purpose is to build gender equity through transformative change. We have a vision for a gender equal society where all people can thrive.

GEN VIC leads, advocates, and enables gender equity by listening to and supporting women, gender-diverse and non-binary people and working collaboratively with the gender equity sector to amplify and grow their voice and influence.

About the role

The Board governs the organisation and provides the strategic direction and financial sustainability of Gender Equity Victoria.  With a strong commitment to integrity, professionalism, and a practice of supporting continuous improvement, as a Board member you will play a pivotal role in shaping priorities, ensuring governance & risk oversight, adherence and delivery against the strategic directions and assessing the financial performance.

Board directors meet bi-monthly, around a preset schedule of Board & sub-committee meeting dates.  Preparedness is an expectation to ensure active participation in these meetings.  The board is looking for applicants with skills & experience to ensure a diversity in views, leading to stronger decision making and exceptional governance.

The Board is looking for 3 Directors with a range of skills including:

  • Finance / Accounting Management
  • Legal Background
  • Philanthropy / Fundraising experience

A successful applicant should be a clear communicator, an active listener and be able to confidently share observations, thoughts and recommendations with the rest of the Board.

Applicants are invited to complete the Director application form, which should include a brief statement (up to 500 words) outlining their relevant skills and relevance to the vision and purpose of the organisation as well as attaching a current CV and submitting directly to our Chair.
