Gender Equity Victoria (GEN VIC) welcomes the introduction of strengthened laws against violence and hate that for the first time now includes gender and sex.

Laws are in place to prevent discrimination based on a person’s sex or gender but these laws do not protect us from personal attacks.

Vilification has no place in our communities, be it in person or online. Everyone has the right to feel safe.

We stand with Equality Australia, Fair Agenda, Victorian Multicultural Commission and Victorian Pride Centre to welcome the proposed reforms.
